What is deep tech chemistry?

‘Deep tech’ was coined to refer to start-ups whose business models are based on significant scientific advances or high-tech innovation in engineering. These start-ups are working in areas such as chemistry, artificial intelligence, life sciences, aerospace, clean energy, and more, but the term ‘deep tech’ can often be synonymous with artificial intelligence, robotics, and 3D printing. We coined the term deep tech chemistry to carve a space for chemistry, surface it in the narrative, and highlight the unique impact and challenges faced by chemistry in the deep tech space. Read the article to understand why this is more than just a term.
