Our venture support programmes

Change Makers venture programmes offer a unique package of support for founders and founding teams of eligible deep tech chemistry ventures.

Coordinated by our experienced specialists and supported by our network of deep tech chemistry venture mentors and ecosystem partners, our package of support is configurable to meet the specific needs of your business and will evolve as you develop and grow.

Our support offer includes:

  1. Regular check-ins with the Change Makers programme team.
  2. A dedicated deep tech chemistry venture mentor, selected by you from our pool of experienced experts.
  3. Masterclasses delivered by industry experts, focusing on topics that are specific to your venture’s challenges and stage of development.
  4. Access to chemistry-focused professional services experts via seminars and 1:1 sessions.
  5. Access to curated peer groups of like-minded founders of deep tech ventures in your sector or technology area.
  6. Access to investment support, including our Investment Catalyst events and a curated network of deep tech chemistry-focused investors.

All support is funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry, and we do not take equity or charge fees for being part of the venture community.

We are currently actively recruiting for a new cohort of ventures to join our Change Makers venture support programme.  Our application portal will be open to early-stage cleantech ventures from Monday 6 January to Friday 28 March 2025. Successful applicants will be invited to an in-person selection day in April 2025. From here, we will select the final group of ventures that will form our May 2025 cleantech cohort.

Eligibility

Change Makers for Ventures supports emerging deep tech chemistry companies who are tackling critical global issues.

To apply for a place on our programme, your venture must be:

  • A UK registered company (not a subsidiary or spin-off of an existing company).
  • Focused in an area of deep tech chemistry with an active R&D programme.
  • In the early stages of development or the beginning of a commercialisation phase.
  • Addressing an industrial, societal or environmental unmet need or creating a new market.
  • Aligned with one of more of the UN’s sustainable development goals.

Find out more about joining Change Makers for ventures.

Can an individual entrepreneur become a part of Change Makers, or is it only open to companies?
Change Makers for ventures is only open to companies registered with the Companies House. To join Change Makers the company will need to apply. Once the company is accepted, any employees will be able to access the programmes and resources.  
Can ventures at all stages of development join Change Makers? 
Change Makers for ventures will initially be open to chemistry ventures who have not yet reached the market. Your venture could be a recent spin-out, a start-up or scale-up. Please refer to the eligibility criteria on the venture page.  
Does involvement in Change Makers preclude a venture from participating in other schemes? 
We welcome applications from ventures that are already part of, or wish to also join, other forms of support like accelerators, incubators and venture studios.

Our accelerator is not like any other. We’re uniquely focused on chemistry ventures. From our mentors to our investor network, everyone involved is a specialist or has a deep interest in the field.

There is no one-size-fits-all. We deliver a blend of masterclasses, mentoring, investment support, peer networks, and professional service drop-ins, and founders can choose the support that suits their stage of growth.

It’s not time-limited either – we’re here to support your business throughout its growth. Our support is focused on four areas that are key to development and growth: routes to market, technology and R&D, people and teams, and investment and funding.

The Royal Society of Chemistry funds the support. We do not take equity or charge fees.
