Our community and support for deep tech chemistry start-ups and scale-ups

Deep tech chemistry start-ups and growth companies are the lifeblood of our community.

With the potential to address global challenges, such as climate change, chronic health conditions, and food waste, it’s vital that we support and champion these ventures.

With our deep understanding of chemistry, we are uniquely placed to support your growth. Our programmes are not generic. They are designed to meet the unique requirements of deep tech chemistry ventures.

Whatever your growth stage – from the very early stage to scale-up and beyond - Change Makers is here to smooth your path to commercialisation and impact.

Get involved

There are a number of different ways you can engage:

  • For early-stage ventures, take a look at our Emerging Technologies Competition for the chance to build your profile and receive invaluable feedback from the judges and that all-important prize money.
  • Benefit from our fully funded Venture Acceleration Programme, which delivers a blend of support and mentoring focused on routes to market, technology and R&D, people and teams, and investment and funding without a time-limit.
  • Collaborate with us on our missions work to help make the ecosystem a better place for future entrepreneurs.
  • Share your news and help amplify the voice and identity of the deep tech chemistry sector.

Who should get involved

Our Venture Acceleration Programme supports emerging deep tech chemistry companies who are tackling critical global issues.

To apply for a place on our programme, your venture must be:

  • A UK registered company (not a subsidiary or spin-off of an existing company).
  • Focused in an area of deep tech chemistry with an active R&D programme.
  • In the early stages of development or the beginning of a commercialisation phase.
  • Addressing an industrial, societal or environmental unmet need or creating a new market.
  • Aligned with one of more of the UN’s sustainable development goals.

Cleantech cohort 2025

We are currently actively recruiting for a new cohort of ventures to join our Change Makers venture support programme.

Our application portal will be open to early-stage cleantech ventures from Monday 6 January to Friday 28 March 2025. Successful applicants will be invited to an in-person selection day in April 2025. From here, we will select the final group of ventures that will form our May 2025 cleantech cohort.
