It’s no secret that one of the biggest challenges faced by businesses developing new technologies is the time and effort to raise the funds needed to do it. This can be uniquely challenging for deep tech chemistry ventures. These businesses require high amounts of funding due to the specialised facilities and equipment, the specialised technical teams behind them, and the long time to develop a safe and effective technology. This long time to develop their technology also means a long time until they can reach the market and generate revenue and a return on investment. However, these technologies can transform how we live our lives, creating new ways to detect and treat diseases, produce clean and sustainable energy, or create circular economies.
This is why we are building a network of investors who share our desire to see these technologies become a reality, scale-up, commercialise and create a better world. Our investor network consists of private investors, angel groups, VCs, and corporate funds who have been carefully selected for their desire to be part of powering positive change through deep tech chemistry, but who also have a proven track record for investing in these areas.
Our investors not only have a deep knowledge of these markets, but also an understanding of the unique challenges of these businesses and what it means to invest in deep tech chemistry. However, they also understand the huge potential for impact these businesses have on societal challenges and the economic powerhouses that these businesses can be. They know these ventures are a smart investment due to their commercial potential and their ability to create new markets, contribute great impact on the economy, and produce growth, jobs, and contribute to the UK’s goal to be a scientific superpower.
Our pitching process
To facilitate investment in these companies, Change Makers regularly runs the
Investment Catalyst event . This event gives ventures the opportunity to present their business opportunity and technology to an audience of investors who share their passion and who can and want to invest the funds they need to survive and thrive.
Our events are shaped by the businesses that we intend to help. The dates are selected based on when our community needs to fundraise and we work with our companies to perfect their pitch in the run up to the event, helping them most effectively put across their potential impact and business plans at this and future events.
